BOKAJAN, Nov 20: Continuing the sting of intermittent narcotic seizures, the Karbi Anglong police recovered four quintals of ganja from a truck at Khatkhati along the Assam-Nagaland border on Sunday.
As per reports, “Based on specific information, a police team accompanied by 20 Bn CRPF personnel intercepted a truck bearing registration number UP 14AT 7851 near Khatkhati SBI branch in the wee hours of Sunday. During the search, four quintals of ganja were recovered from the truck,” said a senior police official.
“The consignment was hidden in a modified secret chamber under the floor of the vehicle. The consignment was supposed to be delivered in Bihar. Two persons have been arrested in this regard,” the official added.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ramayan Yadav (52) and Bhola Yadav (55).Both are residents of Arrah Bhojpur district of Bihar.
Karbi Anglong has, of late, become the transit route for narco trafficking and drugs from the infamous Golden triangle and contrabands are smuggled into mainland India from Myanmar via Karbi Anglong.
