Garubandha Model Hospital inaugurated in Sonitpur

TEZPUR, Feb 10: Garubandha Model Hospital constructed under National Health Mission with a budget of Rs 5.98 crore at Gorubandha area, under Barchala LAC and Missamari PS in Sonitpur district was formally inaugurated on Monday, by the state health minister Ashok Singhal in presence of local MLA, Ganesh Kumar Limbu.

“Under the visionary leadership of chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarmah the state health sector is witnessing a sea change. BJP government both in state and center is being able to materialize all the developmental activities under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarmah”, said Singhal at a public meeting organised in connection with the ceremonial opening.

The major facilities to be available in the model hospital are- eight OPD rooms, family welfare clinic, CSSD, cold chain room, 2 bedded Aseptic Labour room with baby corner, dirty utility, 3 bedded stabilisation (NSU) room, baby feeding room, one bedded septic  delivery room, main OT with sterile store, sterilisation room, nurses duty room, pharmacy and store, 4 bedded emergency ward, Minor O.T,  examination and treatment area, nurses and doctors duty room, X-Ray room with dark room, ultrasound room, laboratory with sample collection room, medical store, 6 bedded female general ward (2nos) , 6 bedded male general ward (2nos), 4 nos of paying cabins, kitchen and pantry, trolley wash area, doctors duty room and nurses duty room, nurses station, 2 bedded isolation ward alongwith residential accommodationlikedoctor’s quarter, nurse’s quarter.

Notably, the new Model hospital will be able to cater healthcare service to nearly 1,05,000 people under the four Panchayats including  Garubandha, Missamari, Jiagabhuru, Bahbera  and  Chariduar and Belseri Tea Estate which will also cover Dighaljuli NPHC,  Dhankhana HWC, Bahbera HWC, Ramnathpur,  HWC, Rikamari HWC, Dighaljuli  HWC and Belseri HWC.

Health Minister Singhal further said that it was a special day for the health sector in the region.

“As part of this ambitious journey, this model hospital will be able to cater to quality health care service to the people of the larger area in the northern belt of the district. We feel that it will reflect the picture of our obligation towards human life and society as well.”

He said adding that, in 2019 when chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was health minister he laid the foundation stone of the MH with a dream to provide adequate health care service to the people of the area, and on that day, that dream has been turned into a reality.

In his speech the minister mentioned that earlier the area was under the Dhekiajuli constituency which always felt the need of such a solid infrastructure for the fulfillment of a better healthcare service to the people which was a call of the hour.

“That is fulfilled today, however though the area has now come under the Barchala LAC as per the delimitation process, yet as minister I have an obligation towards the people of the area,” he said.

The minister also urged all concerned including medical staff to be dedicated towards serving the people.

“Just infrastructure is not enough, dedication in service matters a lot.” In the programme, local MLA, Ganesh Kumar Limbu, commissioner, Health and Family Welfare Department, P Ashok Babu, executive director, National Health Mission, Manoj Choudhury, DC, Sonitpur, Ankur Bharali among other noted personalities of the area were present.
