Gender resource centre inaugurated in Manja under Nayi Chetna 4.0 campaign

DIPHU, Nov 25: As part of the nationwide Nayi Chetna 4.0 campaign (25th Nov to 23rd Dec. 2025) against gender-based violence, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan e-launched the initiative from Manja, Karbi Anglong.

In conjunction with the campaign, a Gender Resource Centre (GRC) at Kheroni village under the Atiripi CLF of Lumbajong BMMU, Manja was ceremonially inaugurated by the District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong, Nirola Phangchopi in the presence of officials, line departments and community stakeholders.

The inauguration was attended by representatives from Sakhi One Stop Centre, Ishta Terangpi; AOO, Lumbajong Dev. Block, Bulut Kro; Joint Director H&FW, i/c Medical PHC, Manja Block, Rup Sing Hanse, and DPM, ASRLM, Karbi Anglong, Habibulla Ahmed, along with District & Block officials of ASRLM, Sakhi Baideos, CLF leaders of Lumbajong BMMU and more than 200 SHG members of the locality attended the inauguration. The District Commissioner expressed deep satisfaction with the initiative, highlighting that the Centre will empower rural women and address violence-related challenges faced by SHG members. She assured full support to the Centre to develop it into a women-centric institution in the district and urged line departments and local stakeholders to facilitate its smooth functioning.

The GRC is expected to serve as a pivotal platform for women’s empowerment, awareness and protection against gender-based violence, aligning with the objectives of the Nayi Chetna 4.0 campaign.
