Girl Among Two College Students Arrested

JORHAT, May 6: Two college students including a girl were arrested on Saturday in connection with alleged uploading of porn material and subsequent suicide of a person at Dhekelia Pokamura village under Pulibar police station in West Jorhat.

The whole incident came to light when Deben Kalita (60) committed suicide by hanging, on Friday evening following a viral video in which the girl and he had been featured in a compromising act.

A police source said that the girl identified as Darshana Bharali, an undergraduate student of DCB College, had allegedly been involved in a porn racket and had uploaded a video of herself and Deben Kalita in a website which went viral in the village and was brought to the notice of Kalita. Kalita, who was single and unable to bear the shame, reportedly hung himself from a tree in a field behind his house.

The girl has been arrested under section 306 and 34 of IPC and section 67A of IT Act.

Police said that the other college student was identified as Abhishek Kashyap, who was featured in a porn video with her and was suspected to be partnering her in this racket. Kashyap was a resident of Birholla

Police further said that the girl had a couple of days ago lodged a complaint at the police station against a male college student, whom she alleged was involved in making objectionable videos and uploading them on the net and who had secretly taken a video of her along with him and uploaded it on the net.

She had alleged that the boy had entangled her into making pornographic clips with other men following this incident.

The college student, Kishalay Sharma, had been arrested in Margherita following the lodging of the complaint and evidence recovered from his laptop.
