MARGHERITA, June 15: The grand finale of the cultural extravaganza organised by the Asom Xahitya Xabha to centrally celebrate Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas concluded on Sunday at the Margherita Swarna Xakha Xahitya Xabha Bhawan.
Hosted by the Margherita Swarna Xakha Xahitya Xabha under the aegis of the Tinsukia Zilla Xahitya Xabha, the event, which began on May 25, served as a vibrant showcase of Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
The final day of the competition was inaugurated by Lakhkyadhar Sonowal, former president of the Margherita Swarna Xakha Xahitya Xabha, whose inspiring address set the tone for a day filled with talent and tradition.
More than 100 students from various schools in the Margherita region participated in competitions that included Rabha music, Rabha dance, and recitation of Rabha poetry, captivating the audience with their enthusiastic and heartfelt performances.
An esteemed panel of judges, comprising renowned reciter Prabin Rajkhowa, Simanto Dutta, folk artist Shivani Phukan, dance expert Bandana Das Dutta, Kuwali Sonowal, and Mitali Gogoi, principal of Suror Deul, ensured a fair and inspiring evaluation of the young talents. Also present were Margherita Xakha Xahitya Xabha president Pabitra Borgohain, General Secretary Ashwini Prasad Gogoi, Rabha Divas Reception Committee president Dr. Ramen Hazarika, and working president Sashidhar Shyam.
The organising committee announced that the winners will be felicitated on June 20, during the official Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas celebration at the same venue. The open session on that day will be presided over by Asom Xahitya Xabha President Dr. Basanta Kumar Goswami.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Prasad Gogoi expressed pride in the event’s success, saying it not only honoured the legacy of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha but also celebrated the immense cultural potential of Assam’s youth, leaving the audience both inspired and proud of their roots.
