GU team bags 12 prizes in ‘North East Zone Youth Festival’

GUWAHATI, Jan 10: The Gauhati University cultural team bagged 12 prizes in the ‘North East Zone Inter University Youth Festival’ held at the ‘University of Science and Technology’ (UST), Meghalaya from January 4 to 8. The festival was held under the aegis of AIU, New Delhi.

The team won the first prize in skit, western group song, mimicry and also won the ‘Best Theatre Group’ award besides the second prize in the following segments: one-act play, mime, instrumental percussion, instrumental non-percussion, and spot hotography. Further, the team won the third prize in the segments — quiz and music group.

The GU team was led by Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare, GU and Dr Debasish Saikia, Teacher in- charge, Cultural Section of P.G.S.U., G.U.

The varsity participants comprised Kuwali Shandilya, Kaushik Das, Parineeta Goswami, Rajdeep Barman, Nilay Das, Bhumika Das, Nur Nobi Sk, Ujjal Kalita Pranab Saikia, Bidisha Borgohain, Priyanka Baishya, Pratiksha Saikia, Ivan Baruah, Ridip Tukaria, Chinmoy Sarma, Aswani Kumar Sharma, Arunabh Sarma, Ashish Baruah, Rajlakshmi Dihingia, Kasturi Shivam, Manisha Deka, Jahnabi Borah, Bhailina Bora, Pallab Jyoti Bora, Junmoni Rongpi, Debasish Bora, Rahul Kalita, Dipannita Rajbongshi, Jayashree Das, Kaustubh Ramesh Das, Abhinash Saikia, Sajag Bora, Deepjyoti Nath, Shreyashi Deka, Karishma Devi, Marami Sharma, Nivedita Kalita and Bikash Rabi Das.

The prize-winning teams will participate in the forthcoming ‘National Inter University Youth Festival’ to be held at the ‘Jain University’, Bangaore.
