Guv Jagdish Mukhi inaugurates ‘Sewa Bharati Institute of Fire, Safety and Disaster Management’ HT Bureau

GUWAHATI, Sept 7: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the ‘Sewa Bharati Institute of Fire, Safety and Disaster Management’ and launched a one year long advanced professional diploma course in safety, health and environment affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University in a function held in Yoga Nilayam, Abhaypur, North Guwahati on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that nowadays special focus is being given on safety, health and environment all over the world, because these are topics related to public concern. Accidents happen due to inattention and ignorance related to industrial work. According to the latest figures of the International Labor Organisation (ILO), more than six thousand people die every day due to this reason.

Lauding the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prof Mukhi said that the country is touching new heights of development under his able leadership. Foreign companies are investing extensively in India. The country is progressing very fast in the construction and industry sector. In such times, the introduction of courses on safety, health and environment for the youth aspiring to work in the construction and industry sector is a great achievement of Sewa Bharati.

Prof Mukhi said, “Sewa Bharti, Northeast has achieved a new milestone by setting up ‘Seva Bharti Institute of Fire, Safety and Disaster Management’ and introducing a one-year advanced professional diploma course in safety, health and environment. Through this course, this organisation will make a significant contribution in building a better future for the youth of the Northeast.”

The Governor also urged the officers of the institute to run courses in first aid, fire-fighting, personal protection, disaster management and environmental protection in the coming times, so that the youth of the Northeast can get employment in these areas as well.

It may be mentioned that Seva Bharti, Purvanchal is a well-known social service organisation of the region that has served the north-eastern region through its various services in the field of health, education, disaster relief, etc. It has now established the Seva Bharati Institute of Fire, Safety and Disaster Management to deliver various services to the poor and organisations of the state and NE region.

Akhil Bharatiya Seva Pramukh, RSS Parag Abhyankar; chairman, Governing Body Seva Bharati Institute of Fire Safety and Disaster Management Akhil Kumar Das; president, Seva Bharati Purbanchal Ramen Sharma; MD, Numaligarh Refinery Limited Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan along with a host of other dignitaries were present during the inaugural function.
