PALASBARI, June 6: The 134th birth anniversary of legendary Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi was celebrated at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Thursday. On the occasion of his birthday, wreaths were laid at the statue of Bordoloi inside the airport, and a lantern was lit. Chief airport officer Utpal Baruah laid wreaths and lit lanterns. Many senior officials from various departments of the airport were present, amongst others.
Addressing the gathering, Baruah said, “We are very happy and proud to celebrate the 134th birth anniversary of the first chief minister of the state, Gopinath Bordoloi, at our airport. We have been celebrating his birthday continuously since the year we took over the operation management of the airport, and we will continue to do so.” Baruah also elaborated on several contributions of Bordoloi as a public and political leader and stated how he succeeded in carving out his region from the plan to be a part of Pakistan.
