KOKRAJHAR, March 9: Hagrama Mohilary, Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), on Monday laid the foundation stones for several hostel projects at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital to strengthen residential infrastructure for students, nurses and medical residents.
The projects include the construction of a 100-bedded girls’ hostel, a 100-bedded boys’ hostel and a 100-bedded nurses’ hostel, each estimated to cost ₹6.66 crore.
The hostel buildings will be constructed with G+2 floor provisions and will include single and double-bedded rooms, kitchen and dining areas, waiting lounge, common rooms, toilet blocks and internal pathways along with site development works.
Mohilary also laid the foundation stone for a residents’ hostel with a capacity of 100 beds, comprising two buildings of 50 beds each, at an estimated cost of ₹9.91 crore.
The G+1 structure will include double-bedded rooms with attached toilets, kitchen facilities and internal pathways.
BTC Executive Member Derhasat Basumatary, Prakash Basumatary, Secretary Karmadev Brahma and other officials were present on the occasion.
The hostel facilities are expected to significantly improve accommodation infrastructure for students, nurses and resident doctors at the medical college and strengthen medical education and healthcare services in the region.
