What began as a much-anticipated downpour to cool the parched earth quickly escalated into an intense hailstorm, covering the landscape in a thick, white “carpet of ice.” Local residents, while accustomed to seasonal rains, described the scene as surreal with the intensity of the hailstones turning the green hills of West Karbi Anglong into a vista resembling a snow-clad mountain range.

While the sight provided a momentary “dream-like” escape from the heat, local farmers are reportedly concerned about potential damage to crops and livestock due to the sheer volume and force of the falling ice.
