KOKRAJHAR, Nov 16: A five-day Hands-on training and workshop on the Application of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) in Life Science concluded successfully at the Technology Incubation Centre, Bodoland University, under the DBT-Govt of India Advanced Level Institutional Biotech Hub.
Twenty participants from institutions across Northeast India—including Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya—attended the residential programme under the mentorship of Prof Sandeep Das, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Bodoland University.
The workshop featured lectures and practical sessions by experts including Dr Pramod Kumar (NIPER-Guwahati), Dr Praveen Kumar (Bongaigaon Refinery, IOCL), Balamurugan Kandasamy (GM, Technical Services, Bongaigaon Refinery), Prof H Bailung (Physics), Dr Prince Kr Mochahari, Dr Arvind Kr Goyal and Dr Sharmistha Brahma Kour.
Training covered applications of HPLC in food analysis, natural product chemistry, pharmaceutical research and health sciences, with sessions customised to participants’ academic and research requirements.
Institutions represented included Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva Viswavidyalaya, Gauhati University, Government Degree College Dharmanagar (Tripura), Bio-Resources Development Centre Shillong, Basugaon College, Department of Forestry (NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh), Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute Guwahati and affiliated colleges of Bodoland University.
The valedictory function was held on November 12, 2025, with Prof Subash Chandra Gupta, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, AIIMS Guwahati, in attendance. Most technical sessions were conducted by Dr Raju Ali and Dr Papia Das, assisted by Nisha Rani Brahma, Seema Rani Boro, Rashmin Ahmed and Dhanjit Nath.
