HOJAI, April 22: The Hanuman Janamutsav began at the Laxminarayan Temple and the Shiv Bari Hanuman Temple in Hojai on Monday with a colourful procession, where hundreds of devotees took part.
An atmosphere of devotion and gaiety prevailed in the town.
From dawn, devotees were seen thronging and standing in serpentine queue at different Hanuman temples to worship and appease Lord Hanuman. While Laxminarayan Temple will celebrate the occasion with a three-day long programme, the Shiv Bari Hanuman Temple will celebrate the Hanuman Janamutsav with a two-day programme.
“Every year the committee organises the Hanuman Janamutsav celebrations on a large scale because we have faith in Lord Hanuman and this year we are holding the silver jubilee celebrations. So it is special to us,” said Manoj Kejriwal, convenor of the Hanuman Janamotsav Samity of the Shri Laxminarayan Mandir.
“On this sacred day, we seek the blessing of Lord Hanuman by chanting various devotional hymns and prayers, such as Hanuman Chalisa and reading holy scriptures like the Ramayana,” Pankaj Garodia, a devote said.
On the other hand, the celebrations has also began in Gupta Patty Hanuman temple, Narsingh Sthan Hanuman Temple, Dangoria Bari Hanuman Temple, Amtola Hanuman Temple, Kedia Puram Hanuman Temple and Telibasti Hanuman Temple.
