HOJAI, April 16: Marking the celebration of Hanuman’s birth anniversary, a three-day long Hanuman Jayanti programme began at Laxminarayan temple and a two-day programme began at Shiv Bari Hanuman temple in Hojai on Friday with colourful and traditional procession where hundreds of devotees took part, along with an atmosphere of gaiety and amity.
From dawn, devotees were seen thronging and standing in queues at different Hanuman temples to worship and appease the Hindu god. Talking to this correspondent, convenor of Hanuman Janamutsav Committee, Laxminarayan Temple viz., Manoj Sarma and Mohan More jointly said, “Every year the committee organises the celebration on a larger scale because they have faith in Lord Hanuman but due to the pandemic, since last two years they couldn’t organise the program on a high tone but this year they have organised a three-day event which is commendable.
Speaking to media persons, Vinod Gupta, member, Hanuman Jayanti Celebration Committee, Shiv Bari said, “On this sacred day, we seek the blessing of Lord Hanuman by chanting various devotional hymns and prayers, such as Hanuman Chalisa and reading Holy Scriptures like the Ramayana.”
On the other hand, Tapan Medhi, officer in charge, Hojai police station inaugurated idols of Hindu gods at Laxminarayan Temple in Hojai on Friday evening.
