GUWAHATI, Jan 21: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday started the process of distributing ration cards to 12062 beneficiary families of Mazbat Legislative Assembly constituency in Udalguri district.
“Taking government’s commitment to a new height in helping the under-privileged sections of the society, chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today started the process of distributing ration cards to 12062 beneficiary families of Mazbat Legislative Assembly constituency at Mazbat today,” an official statement said.
It may be noted that as a part of National Food Security Act, state government under the leadership of chief minister has started distributing new ration cards to more than 42 lakh beneficiaries in the state.
“For the benefits of the under-privileged sections of the society, state government has increased the income limit of the families from Rs 2 lakh in one year to Rs 4 lakh for the beneficiaries to become eligible for the scheme,” the statement added.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarma said that helping the people from cross section of the society, state government is giving ration cards to under-privileged.
“With the help of these cards, every member of the eligible family will be entitled to 5 kg of rice every month along with medical facilities in empanelled hospitals for Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Asom programme and LPG connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana,” he added.
He also said that the state government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unleashed unprecedented initiatives of taking the welfare of the people to a new level.
“In the coming days more such welfare schemes will be initiated to empower the people of the state socially, economically and academically,” he said.
The chief minister said that after the Bodo Peace Accord signed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, both peace and development in BTR areas have achieved an unprecedented proposition.
He further informed that the implementation of the decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting in Udalguri will be reviewed during his next visit to the district in the month of February.
“Accordingly steps will be expedited to execute all the cabinet decisions for the development of BTR areas. For the immediate resolve of water logging problem in Mazbat town, government will take a pragmatic step. Moreover, district stadium of Udalguri will be constructed to enable the district to hone the sporting skills of the players along with holding national level sporting competitions in Udalguri,” he avowed.
Speaker Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimari, CEM BTC Pramod Boro, MP Dilip Saikia also spoke on the occasion.
MLA Mazbat Charan Boro, deputy chief BTC Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
