GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a significant meeting with Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday in Dimapur.
Sharing insights into the discussions, CM Sarma took to social media platform X to post a photo of the meeting, highlighting the focus on deepening collaboration and sustaining peace between the two states.
In his social media post, CM Sarma stated, “Had an excellent meeting with the Hon’ble chief minister of Nagaland Shri Neiphiu Rio ji at Dimapur. We discussed ways to deepen our collaboration and expand our engagements towards continued peace and harmony between both our states.”
The meeting is part of an ongoing dialogue between the chief ministers of Assam and Nagaland, who have been regularly convening to address shared concerns.
Notably, in December last year, both the leaders had met in New Delhi for comprehensive discussions on various issues.
The longstanding interstate border dispute remains a major unresolved matter between the two states. Additionally, discussions have revolved around the issue of oil exploration in the border areas of Assam and Nagaland.
Sarma, serving as the NEDA convenor, has been actively involved in engaging with stakeholders of the Naga peace process. These consistent interactions underline the commitment of both states to fostering collaboration and resolving outstanding matters for the mutual benefit of Assam and Nagaland.
