TEZPUR, March 14: Bringing a good news to the cultural arena of Tezpur Dr Gopendra Mohan Das, president of J B Production an amateur theatre group founded here and a long time physician of Orthopedics has been selected for Cultural Excellence Award 2023 to be conferred in the next month by Indian Medical Association, Assam State Branch.
Dr Satyajit Bora, president of IMA Assam State Branch informed that the award would be conferred upon Dr Gopendra Mohan Das in a function to be held at Dibrugarh in the month of April 2023 .
It is pertinent to be mentioned that Dr Gopendra Mohan Das who had retired from the Kanaklata Civil Hospital here as an Orthopedic Surgeon is a noted cultural activist of the area. Being the president of the JB Production a noted amateur theatre group he is involved in promoting amateur theatre and cinema in association with his spouse Dr Jahanara Begum, renowned physician and actress.
JB Production headed by Dr Das use to celebrate ‘Natokor Din’ ( Day of Drama) every year on the first of January as an initiative to promote drama bringing together almost all the theatre activist of Tezpur and contributed a lot to the cultural arena already by producing several thought provoking and mind blowing plays and popular cinema which includes ‘Cactus’, ‘Kanin’ and ‘Anur’.
