HAMREN, Jan 8: A delegation of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) led by chief executive member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang held an interaction programme with the people of border areas in West Karbi Anglong on Sunday.
The CEM promised development and welfare schemes to the people of Rongkhelan, Vanpung and Samatan areas in Amreng Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency.
Addressing the people, the CEM said, “The KAAC and the state government have given the utmost importance to the border areas. Villagers will be given land pattas; there will be free housing for the people of Rongkhelan, Vanpung and Samatan.”
“The roads will be black topped and interstate border guards will be posted in the area. The villages will also be given potable water. KAAC will give 8 ban roofing sheets and Rs 5,000 each to the villagers of border areas and an open stage will be constructed in each village. Schools will also be constructed, the CEM added.
In the meeting, blankets were distributed to the needy.
MP Horen Sing Bey; MLAs Rupsing Teron and Darsing Ronghang, executive members of KAAC, Reena Terangpi, Prabhat Chandra Taro, Amar Sing Tisso and Madhuram Lekthe along with MACs were present in the programme.
