Jadav Payeng nominated for Rongbong Terang Samanway Award

DIPHU, Jan 1: Environmental activist and forestry worker Jadav Payeng has been nominated for the ‘Rongbong Terang Samanway Award, 2025’.

Chingthur Publication, Bakaliaghat informed the media here in a press meet held at Bakaliaghat Anchalic Yuva Sangha on Tuesday last.

The 9th edition of the Samanway Award will be presented to Payeng in a function to be held at Bakaliaghat Anchalic Yuva Sangha on January 13, which marks the birthday of Padmashree Rongbong Terang.

Writer Khoyasing Hanse; Bhaben  Koch president of Bakulia Press Club (BPC); Biresh Hazarika, president and  Dhiren Bora Secretary of Bakaliaghat  Branch Sahitya Sabha; Munimanta Saikia former Headmaster, Rajapathar High School attended the press meet.

On the other hand, the Chingthur Publication informed that the president Dr Surjakanta Hazarika and secretary, Dr Uprendrajit Sarmah of Axom Sahitya Sabha, Central Committee and newly elected president Dr Bashanta Kumar Goswami and general secretary, Debajit Bora of Axom Sahitya Sabha will grace the award distribution function.

Padmashree Rongbong Terang will also attend the function, and Chingthur Publication will be informed through a press communique.

The owner of Chingthur Publication has also mentioned the names of awardees of Rongbong Terang Samanway since its inception.

Dr Dhirendra Nath Dutta was the recipient in 2017, followed by Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi in 2018, Homen Borgohain in 2019, Dr Nagen Saikia in 2020, Phanindra Kumar Debchaudhary in 2021, Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami in 2022, Biren Singha in2023 and Dr. Karabi Deka Hazarika in 2024.
