Jorhat, May 21: In response to soaring temperatures, authorities in Assam’s Jorhat district have mandated a change in school timings for both private and government educational institutions.
The directive was issued by Buli Gogoi Bhuyan, the district inspector of schools in Jorhat, who instructed school heads to ensure that morning assemblies are conducted at 8 am.
According to an official notification, the new schedule will be effective from June 1. Under the revised timings, all educational institutions will start operations at 8 am. Lower primary schools will function until 12:30 pm, middle English schools and upper primary schools will operate until 1 pm, and high schools and higher secondary schools will remain open until 1:30 pm.
The order stated, “For the smooth functioning of schools and in the public interest, and due to the rise in temperature and scorching heat, the timings of schools (both government and private) in Jorhat district have been rescheduled w.e.f. 1st June 2024.”
It further clarified that the order was issued with the approval of the District Commissioner of Jorhat.
