DIPHU, May 12: The students of the Basic Training Centre (BTC) celebrated Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence. Attending as chief guest, the Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Education, Richard Tokbi, said teachers should be the backbone and pillar of society. Without teachers, there won’t be IAS, good politicians, scientists, or good academics.
He said Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsavis is an initiative of the Government of India under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the 75th anniversary of a free India.

“I appreciate the authority of BTC for organising the programme to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian freedom. Today, India is admired by the world for its democratic values. We are proud to call ourselves the mother of democracy,” the EM said.
He also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has made significant progress. The Prime Minister has emphasised self-reliance through a campaign called ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’ To realise Modi’s dreams, we need to focus more on self-reliance. We need to prepare each individual to contribute to society.
The EM said Karbi Anglong needs a lot more self-reliance and human resource development. The education system needs to change to get maximum results and provide quality education.
The EM has mentioned the name of former HAD minister late Samsing Hanse to have brought BTC to Diphu, where teacher’s training is imparted.
