On Friday, CEM Ronghang inspected the ongoing construction of a 12.1-km four-lane road from 8 Kilo Garden to Birla Bazar in Diphu.

The road, a key KAAC project excluding a proposed flyover, is being built with side drains, a central divider, and landscaping features.

The CEM was accompanied by Howraghat MLA Darsing Ronghang, Executive Members Ritesh Enghi, Surjya Rongphar, Madhuram Lekhte, MAC Johnny Timung, KAAC Board Chairman Mohan Tisso, and departmental officials during the inspection.

To highlight cultural identity, a statue of Karbi icon Rangsina Sarpo will be installed in front of the Assam University, Diphu Campus, along the Diphu-Lumding road.

Statues of other noted Karbi figures will also be erected at key roundabouts along the new road.

Several major facilities are scheduled for inauguration in Diphu this December, including an international-standard swimming pool, a state-of-the-art cancer hospital, a flyover, and a beautification lake.

These are part of the council’s broader efforts to enhance health services, public infrastructure, and tourism appeal in the district.

According to officials, the projects reflect a long-term vision for development and improved quality of life in Karbi Anglong.
