HAMREN, Dec 2: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), continuing its initiative to secure land rights for indigenous tribes in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, has distributed more than one lakh land pattas in the first phase of the Purthimi Akemang scheme.
In the second phase—Purthimi Akemang 2.0—Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang distributed land pattas free of cost to residents of Chinthong in West Karbi Anglong recently.
The distribution programme, held at Phonglangso (Maushaldiang), focused on beneficiaries who were left out in the first phase.
Speaking as chief guest, CEM Ronghang said that over one lakh land pattas had already been distributed and that the BJP-led KAAC would continue working to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
He criticised the opposition, saying it had done little apart from spreading misinformation, while the BJP government remained committed to development in the district.
The programme was attended by MLAs Darsing Ronghang and Rup Sing Terang, KAAC Executive Member Uphing Maslai and several others.
