KAAC to honor achievers on 72nd Foundation Day

DIPHU, June 21: The Art & Culture department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has announced the recipients of prestigious awards to be presented on the occasion of the 72nd KAAC Foundation Day on June 23 at Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong.

In recognition of their remarkable achievements and contributions to society, a total of nine individuals will be honored with awards, as revealed by Surjya Rongphar, executive member (EM) of KAAC, Art & Culture and Health & Family Welfare.

The recipients of the CEM Lifetime Achievement Awards, 2023 will be granted a cash prize of Rs 75,000 along with a citation note. Meanwhile, the awardees of the Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Award, Semson Sing Ingti Award, and Khorsing Terang Award will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, along with a citation.

Rongphar disclosed that the Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Award, 2023 in the socio-political category will be posthumously bestowed upon the late Hundrowel Millick from Umkhermi, Jirikindeng, West Karbi Anglong. Millick’s youngest daughter, Sina Millickpi, will accept the award on his behalf. The late Rubi Phangchopi of Lorulangso, Diphu, will be honored with the Semson Sing Ingti Award, 2023 in entrepreneurship and women empowerment, which will also be received posthumously by her grandson, Longchong Taro. The late Elisha Hanse of Lorulangso will be posthumously honored with the Khorsing Terang Award, 2023 for social and art & culture, and the award will be accepted by his son, Surendra Hanse.

Late Soi Soi Terang of Diphu will be posthumously granted the CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in politics, which will be received by Terang’s grandson and Assam Gourav, Khorsing Terang. Another recipient of the CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in politics is the late Rangdang Teron of Umborbon Ulukunchi, West Karbi Anglong. The award will be given posthumously, and it will be received by Kave Ronghangpi, the wife of the late Teron, as confirmed by the EM.

Furthermore, the late Kane Rongpipi of Diphu Baptist Church will be honored with the CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in health. Rongpipi, the daughter of late Sar-et Rongpi and late Kamang Terangpi, will receive the award posthumously.

The CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in art & culture will be posthumously presented to the late Mebel Terangpi, daughter of late Khorsing Terang and late Kanam Engtipi of Rukasen, Diphu. The award will be accepted by her eldest daughter, Dr Kaban Teronpi. Additionally, Harsing Engti of Inglongcherop, Diphu, will be awarded the CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in art & culture, and Engti himself will receive the accolade.

Lastly, the late Pari Rongpi of Rongthe-ang, Diphu, will be posthumously honored with the CEM Lifetime Achievement Award, 2023 in literature. The award will be received by Rongpi’s youngest son, Risim Rongpi, according to the EM’s statement.
