Karbi Anglong observes National Unity Day

DIPHU, Oct 31: National Unity Day – Rashtriya Ekta Divas to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of India’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was observed by the district administration and district sports officer (DSO), Karbi Anglong.

A Run for Unity was also organised on the occasion. The run was from Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium to Diphu market and back to KASA stadium on Monday morning. Children of Diphu Athletic Academy, members of Karbi Anglong Mountaineering Association, Nehru Yuva Kendra, students of Karbi Anglong Karate-do Association, ex sports persons, KASA officials and other members participated in the run.

The BJP, East Karbi Anglong district committee also organised the Run for Unity to celebrate National Unity Day from Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park to Diphu Market here.

President, BJP, EKADC, Dhansing Teron; chief executive member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang; MP Horensing Bey; executive member (EMs) of KAAC and Member of Autonomous Council (MACs) and party members participated in the run.

The CRPF, 20 Bn observed the day at its 20 Bn headquarters in Diphu. The occasion was presided over by unit commandant Swarn Singh and attended by officers and men of the paramilitary organisation. On the occasion, a march past was held on Monday morning by all the rank and file of the CRPF and a pledge was taken by the officers and everyone present there.
