DIPHU, Oct 30: The District Administration of Karbi Anglong, under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi, ACS, will observe the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika on November 5, in alignment with state-wide commemorations.
A preparatory meeting was held on October 29 at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office to discuss arrangements. The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioners and representatives of various line departments.
The programme, organised as per the Standard Operating Procedure issued by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam, will include floral tributes to Dr Hazarika, cultural performances and a grand chorus of his iconic compositions, including “Manuhe Manuhor Babe.”
Dr Bhupen Hazarika, fondly known as the “Xudhakantha” of Assam, devoted his life to promoting unity, peace and brotherhood through music. The District Administration aims to honour his legacy and inspire the younger generation to uphold his ideals.
