Karbi girl, Richa Napen cracks APSC combined competitive exams

DIPHU, Dec 30: Richa Napen, who hails from Dhansiri village of Karbi Anglong district cleared the Combined Competitive Exam conducted by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), the result which was declared on December 20.

Richa will be appointed in Assam Land Revenue Services (ALRS). Her father Rupenra Napen works as a night chowkidar in the office of assistant director of handloom and textiles in Diphu. Her mother is Rijinan Napen.

Richa passed HSLC from Dhansiri High School in 2006 and cleared higher secondary exam from Chandra Nath Bezbaruah College, Bokaghat in Science stream.

She completed her B. Sc, from B. Borooah College in Guwahati with Zoology as major subject in 2011. She did her post graduation from Gauhati University in 2013. She also did B. Ed. from College of Education, Christian Basti in Guwahati.

She pursued for Ph. D, but had to discontinue due to financial constraints.

Richa managed the expenditure for higher studies by way of private tuition.

Richa appreared the APSC exam for the first time in 2016. She appeared for block development officer (BDO) under the department of panchayat & rural development. Even as she cleared the written test, Richa was not selected for the post.

In 2018, Richa appeared the Combined Competitive Exam, the result which was declared on December 20. She was in the merit list. She secured 53rd rank.

In 2019 also Richa appeared for the APSC examination in the department of P&RD. She was selected and got appointed for the post of tax collector. She is currently posted in the P&RD office, Hojai.

“It was hard work, dedication and presence of mind. Staying in Guwahati and studying has huge expenses and my father could not afford it. I struggled myself to become successful in life. I could not afford to buy books to prepare for my competitive exams. On Saturdays and Sundays I used to go to Assam State Library in Guwahati for study. The Internet has also helped me,” Richa said.
