DIPHU, Nov 9: The Lumbajong Longri Karbi Lammet Amei (Lumbajong Branch of Karbi literary body) held its 2nd annual conference at the Karbi Lammet Amei Central Committee office, Lumding Road, Diphu, where seven individuals were felicitated for their achievements in various fields.
Among the awardees was Waisong Bey, founding member and manager of the Karbi Anglong Morning Star Football Club (KAMSFC), who received the ‘Karmapan Award’ in the field of sports organisation, presented by Assam Darpan on August 24, 2025. Under his leadership, KAMSFC has won numerous prestigious tournaments at local and state levels, including the Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA) League, Assam State Premier League (2015 and 2023 seasons), KASA Club League, CEM Gold Cup and more. The club also participated in the Durand Cup 2025 invitational match. Waisong Bey holds UEFA and AIFF coaching licenses. His felicitation included a Karbi traditional turban and a citation.
Other awardees included Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti, who received the Kali Charan Brahma Award, Sengkan Ronghang honoured with the Karmapan Award for best social activities, Joysing Tokbi and Diganta Rongpi recipients of the Asom Graimo Hiru Rotno award, Karbi Lammet Amei president Kamsing Hanse, awarded the Bharat Samman 2025 by the Global Excellence Forum and noted writer Hangmiji Hanse, who received the Ru Bonglong Terang Anong’eh by KAAC.
The conference saw participation from delegates of six branches of Lumbajong Longri Karbi Lammet Amei: Diphu KLA aroh, Inglongkiri KLA aroh, Dhansiri KLA aroh, Inglongpo KLA aroh, Manja KLA aroh and Chingthur KLA aroh. Executive Member (EM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Prabhat Chandra Taro, attended as the chief guest.
The meeting was chaired by Lumbajong Longri Karbi Lammet Amei president Sarsing Engti and the welcome address was delivered by general secretary Samsing Kro. The event celebrated excellence across sports, social work, literature and community service while strengthening cultural and literary ties within the Karbi community.
