Karbi New Year celebrations

BOKAJAN, Jan 2: The Karbi Students Association, Kuligaon branch and Karbi New Year Celebration Committee celebrated the Karbi Ningkan Kimi – Karbi New Year at Kuligaon Sports Association playground on Wednesday. The Karbi New Year celebration started with the hoisting of Karbi New Year celebration flag by SBG Kiri Engti followed with paying of homage to the departed souls of the locality, which was led by KSA adviser, Sarthe Timung and secretary Katharson Engti.

From 9 am, various games and sports for children, youth, men and women were organised. Among them were a running race, tug of war, blind hit, drawing competition and running with bamboo stilts.

In the later part of the day, prize distribution function was organised which was chaired by president, KSA, Kuligaon branch Babu Hanse. The prize distribution function was attended by SGB Kiri Engti; secretary, KSA, Kuligaon branch, Katharson Engti; Advocate Semson Teron; president, Karbi Cultural Society, Kuligaon, Rajen Rongpi; social worker Lob Kumar Teron and former executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Ramsing Tokbi. A community feast was held which was partaken by all who attended.
