GUWAHATI, May 31: ‘Karimganj College has been playing a great role in spreading the light of knowledge for more than seven decades,” said the minister for Environment and Forest, Excise and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya during the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Karimganj College in Karimganj on Monday.
Minister Suklabaidya said the institution has been playing a significant role in the field of higher education for more than seven decades. “The role of this great institution in the socio-cultural milieu of Karimganj since its inception is immense,” quipped Suklabaidya.
Congratulating the students, the teaching and non-teaching fraternity, past and present, on completion of 75 glorious years of the college, minister Suklabaidya paid tribute to Promesh Chandra Bhattacharjee and all those who contributed towards setting up of this educational institution way back in 1946.
The function was attended by principal of Karimganj College, Ramanuj Chakraborty, former MLA cum ASTC chairman, Mission Ranjan Das, MLA, Badarpur, Abdul Aziz, MLA, North Karimganj, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, DC, Mridul Yadav and SP, Padmanabh Barua.
