Karmapran Khirod Barua memorial one-act play competition

MORIGAON, Nov 13: The laikhuta for the Karmapran Khirod Barua Memorial All Assam One-Act Play Competition was erected on Thursday at Morigaon School Field, marking the commencement of preparations for the three-day drama festival scheduled from November 27 to 29. The erection ceremony followed traditional religious rituals and was carried out by Lipika Barua, president of the event’s managing committee.

The programme was inaugurated by Mahendra Nath Hazarika, president of the Morigaon District Senior Citizen Body, who lit the ceremonial lamp. The event was moderated by working president Ajit Sarma and attended by several dignitaries including Pranabjyoti Barkatok chief advisor of the managing committee, Bubumoni Goswami MASS chief advisor, Babul Bora former secretary-general of SSS, senior journalist Pratap Hazarika and Dalim Phukan.

This year, a total of 55 scripts were submitted for the 32nd All Assam Khirod Barua Memorial Drama Competition, with 44 scripts selected for the premier stage of the contest. The competition continues Assam’s rich tradition of celebrating theatre and literary talent.
