TEZPUR, March 5: The apex literary body of the state Asam Sahitya Sabha conferred its prestigious Katha Sahitya Bota-2022 upon Khagendra Nath Pathak posthumously in a meeting organised at the Radha Govinda Barua Conference Hall of the Assam Sahitya Sabha on Sunday.
The award giving ceremony was presided over by the vice-president of Assam Sahitya Sabha Mrinalini Devi while former vice president of Asam Sahitya Sabha and renowned author Kanak Chandra Sarma briefly spoke on ‘Katha Sahitya(Prose Literature)’.
Attending as guest in the programme noted author Jogendra Narayan Shastri said in his speech that Vaishnavism would not have spread in Assam in such a way if Damodardev had not been a disciple of Bhattadev, the founder of prose in Assamese literature. He also analysed the virtues and distinctive qualities of the prose writer Bhattadev in his speech.
On behalf of the family of Khagendra Nath Pathak, his son Ramananda Pathak spoke about the literary life of his father. A book entitled Surabhi published by Asam Sahitya Sabha was also launched at the programme which was ended with vote of thanks by Jadab Chandra Sarma , principal secretary of Asam Sahitya Sabha.
