Khel Moharan 2.0 starts in Silchar

GUWAHATI, Dec 18: Assam minister Pijush Hazarika, inaugurated the much-awaited Khel Moharan 2.0 at district association sports field, Silchar on Wednesday.

This grand event is being hailed as a milestone in Assam’s sporting journey, reflecting the state’s unwavering commitment to empowering its youth and promoting athletic excellence under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

 The event witnessed the participation of eminent dignitaries, including Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shom, North Sribhumi MLA Kamalakhaya Dey Purkayastha,

Minister Pijush Hazarika, in his address, underlined the pivotal role of sports in shaping a healthy and progressive society.

“Sports keep individuals physically and mentally fit while fostering a healthy social environment. It diverts the youth from harmful influences like substance abuse and instills discipline and purpose in their lives,” he stated.

Reflecting on Assam’s burgeoning sporting culture, the minister lauded Khel Moharan 2.0 as the state’s largest-ever sporting initiative and expressed optimism about Silchar’s potential to produce world-class athletes like Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain.

“I firmly believe this region will contribute to India’s sporting legacy by nurturing stars who will shine on national and international stages,” he added, extending his best wishes to all participants.

Echoing similar sentiments, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty described the event as a unifying force, saying,

“Khel Moharan 2.0 is more than just a sporting tournament; it’s a movement that fosters community bonds and showcases budding talent. Hosting this historic event is a matter of pride for Silchar.”

Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shom emphasized the life lessons imparted by sports, including discipline, teamwork, and resilience, which shape individuals into future champions.

 Meanwhile,North Sribhumi MLA Kamalakhaya Dey Purkayastha lauded the initiative for sparking a revival of sports in Assam, inspiring countless youth to aim for national and international glory.

Cachar district commissioner Mridul Yadav also delivered a heartfelt welcome address, describing the event as a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and the indomitable spirit of Cachar. He urged participants to compete with passion, integrity, and respect for the true essence of the game.

The excitement continued as minister Kaushik Rai inaugurated the Lakhipur LAC Level Competition-Khel Moharan 2.0 at Labac TE Playground, with several local officials and spectators joining the celebration.

The grand inauguration of Khel Moharan 2.0 has ignited enthusiasm among athletes and sports enthusiasts across Assam. By fostering a culture of sportsmanship and inclusivity, the event symbolizes the state’s dedication to youth empowerment and athletic excellence.
