Kisan Mela Organised In Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, April 26: Kisan Mela was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Karbi Anglong at KVK premises here as a part of Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav.

District agricultural officer, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Bidu Raijung inaugurated the Mela in presence of lead development manager, Lead Bank, SBI, Dish, Rajyajit Saha; DDM, NABARD, Bendang Aiyer; assistant director of Agriculture (Horticulture), Pobon Boro; principal scientist, RARS, Diphu Dr. Mercidy Maibangsa and principal scientist and head, KVK, Karbi Anglong, Dr. Subal Maibangsa and other officials of the KVK.

The exhibition highlighted organic farming, farm mechanisation, best agriculture practices and other emerging technologies for the benefit of farmers. Wherein the KVK, Karbi Anglong and the RARS, Diphu participated jointly along with the CSS- ATMA, department of Agriculture, KAAC, Diphu, the Happy Farmers Group from Diphu, the Asomi Shop from Dhansiri and farmer’s outlets with their products.

In addition to this, 10 progressive and innovative farmers of the district were felicitated with a certificate and a traditional Karbi traditional turban for their contribution to agriculture, livestock and allied activities and also for motivating their fellow farmers.

Later, a farmer-scientist interaction and technical discussion was also held under the theme ‘Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati’. The event registered the participation of 250 farmers from different parts of the district and assisted in the successful completion of the programme.
