JORHAT, June 10: Kishor Goswami, a senior journalist has been selected for the Deba Kumar Bora Memorial Media Fellowship, 2026.
The fellowship was instituted by the All Assam Journalists’ Union (AAJU), Jorhat District Committee and the Journalists’ Welfare Fund.
A press note issued by AAJU Jorhat District president Jogesh Ojha and Journalists’ Welfare Fund secretary Navajyoti Boruah stated that Goswami, who was selected from among several applicants will undertake a study on the topic, “Emergency Digital Archive of Endangered Oral Literature of the Banai Language of Assam: A Participatory Pilot Project.”
The note stated that Goswami will be provided Rs 20,000 to conduct the study and will have to submit his report to the journalists’ body within the next six months.
He will be formally awarded the fellowship at the annual meeting of the journalists’ body and the Journalists’ Welfare Fund, scheduled to be held in December this year.
Goswami hails from Sualkuchi in Kamrup district.
Over the past three years, three journalists from the state have been awarded the fellowship.
Late Deba Kumar Bora was a prominent AASU leader during the Assam Agitation. He later served as a minister in the first AGP government and subsequently became journalist. He also served as press adviser to former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
