KNCA celebrates 32nd foundation day

DIPHU, Aug 01: Two factions of Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) celebrated the 32nd foundation day of the women separately at different venues here on Wednesday. The KNCA led by president Rengka Taropi celebrated the day at CPI(ML)-Hills Party Committee office and the other faction led by president Merina Beypi  celebrated it at KNCA central committee office here.

The KNCA led by president Taropi submitted a memorandum to governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi through Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner Mridul Kumar Mahanta demanding that cases on rape and murder be referred to fast tract court so that the culprits are given punishment at the earliest.

The women organisation also demanded compensation to rape and murder victim’s family of Arlish Teronpi of Long-ehpi, Junaki Millikpi of Borkok, Janisha Engtipi of Disobai and the minor rape victim of Satgaon in West Karbi Anglong.

Former MP and leftist leader Dr. Jayanta Rongpi, CPI (ML)-HPC secretary Robi Kumar Phangcho, KNCA president Rengka Taropi and general secretary Pratima Engheepi, All India Progressive Women Association, Assam state unit general secretary Mirnali Devi and Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum general secretary Prescilla Terangpi participated in the meeting.

On the other hand, the foundation day celebration of KNCA led by president Merina Beypi was participated by Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) secretary Chandra Kanta Terang, leaders of KSA and the women organisation.

The organisational flag was hoisted by president Merina Beypi. Homage to the departed KNCA members was led by Karbi So-arlo Kirsan Asong president Basapi Taropi.
