Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) had organised a ‘Unity, Victory and Prosperity Rally’ at Tarabasa playground for the Phuloni Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency on December 11. The purpose of the rally was to highlight the government development schemes.

In a press conference at Autonomous State Demand Committee office here, the KSA vice president Moniram Teron said, “On December 11 the BJP held a Unity, Victory and Prosperity Rally at Tarabasa playground. We have come to know from local portal news channel that Howraghat MLA Darsing Ronghang’s wife Sabina Teronpi, a teacher in Rongnihang LP School, Diphu, was seen felicitating party workers and supporters from other parties joining the BJP. She was seen putting BJP caps on the newly joined opposition party workers and supporters.”

Expressing dissatisfaction over the involvement of a school teacher, Teronpi, in a political rally, the KSA vice president said that since Teronpi is a government employee drawing salary from the government and as per government rules she cannot participate in any political meetings.

The KSA urged upon the executive member (EM), KAAC, Education, Richard Tokbi to take immediate action to suspend her from service for violating the service rules of the statutory body of KAAC or state government, adding, “She is misusing her status as a government employee”.
