GUWAHATI, July 8: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati is gearing up to tackle the monsoon season with utmost preparedness and safety protocols, as announced in an official statement on Saturday. Recognizing the potential difficulties caused by unpredictable rainfall patterns, recurring floods, and water accumulation in low-lying areas surrounding the airport, the authorities have implemented a range of plans and procedures to mitigate any operational disruptions.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the airport, dedicated manpower has been deployed to clean the drains at various locations within the facility. Additionally, heavy construction machinery is being utilized to create trenches along the perimeter of the boundary walls, facilitating the proper flow of rainwater on the airside of the terminal.
