Literary Body Observes World Storytelling Day In Tezpur

TEZPUR, March 19: Great warmth has been added in breezy cold weather of the day on Sunday with telling hundreds of different stories, fairy tales etc. by a hundred numbers of children in the Tezpur Sahitya Sabha Bhawan on Sunday in a colourful programme organised by the Tezpur Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with Kuhi sub- committee to commemorate the World Storytelling Day to be observed worldwide on March 20.

The programme was started with lighting a lamp by the children and a brief introduction by Pankaj Barua, former secretary, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha on World Storytelling Day and essence of fairy tales and stories. The amazing world of the tales was unfolded in front of the children by eminent actress Dr Jahanara Begum,  Mrigen Chandra Bora, noted actor and vice president of Asam Natya Sanmilan, noted writer Maya Sarma, social worker Meenakshi Sarma, noted singer Kalpana Kalita , actress Tarulata Das , Ruma Devi , Manimala Saikia and several others by  playing the role of story-telling  Grand Parents. Every child attending the programme took part in story telling with their own style and manner.

Certificates and prizes were distributed to the participants by the office bearers of the sahitya sabha including Dwijen Nath, Pallab Bhattacharyya, Mahendra Kumar Nath and Biswajit Boro while Namita Deka Lahkar, convenor of Kuhi conducted the programme.  Among other dignitaries  the programme was attended by Dr. Satish Chandra Bhattacharya, eminent writer, Ramesh Chandra Kalita, president, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, Monomoti Kurmi, president, Sadou Asam Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, Bhupen Sarma, noted actor, Mukul Goswami, Bharat Chandra Saikia, Pulak Kumar Deka, Arup Kalita  and others.
