Literary pensioner Ira Bora felicitated at Jamugurihat

TEZPUR, April 23: Ira Bora, an octogenarian retired headmistress, writer and literary pensioner was felicitated at her Jamugurihat residence by Satya Shandhya Mahila Samittee on Friday for her immense contributions towards the field of literature and women education. She was one of the pioneers in the greater Jamugurihat area who encouraged formal women education during the post-independence era. She also penned several valuable books including poetry. The state government had awarded her literary pension for her contributions in the field of literature. The president of Satyasandhiya Mahila Samittee Niru Sarmah, secretary Barsha Bhagawati and several other members felicitated Borah at her residence.
