GUWAHATI, Dec 11: In a swift operation, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended Sudhir Kumar Paul, Lot Mandal at the Circle Officer’s office in Bongaigaon Revenue Circle. A complaint had been filed, accusing Paul of demanding a bribe of Rs 40,000 for mutation-related tasks.
Refusing to succumb to bribery, the complainant sought legal intervention from the Directorate. Subsequently, a trap was set on Monday, resulting in Paul’s arrest. Caught red-handed, he accepted Rs 4,000 as part of the demanded bribe. The tainted money was recovered, seized in the presence of witnesses, and Paul was taken into custody.
A case has been registered under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and legal proceedings are underway. The swift action demonstrates the commitment of authorities to combat corruption and uphold integrity in public service.
