KOKRAJHAR, July 7: Noted social activist, former general secretary of Banargaon Anchalik Committee ABSU and assistant teacher of Banargaon High School, Mahadev Mushahary passed away at a private hospital in Siliguri of West Bengal due to heart stroke.
Mushahary, who is popularly known as Mijinkthi Mushahary, had a heart stroke a few days ago. He was immediately admitted to the MRM Hospital, Kokrajhar and later referred to the Dr Malay’s Hospital, Siliguri and breathed his last around 1.52 pm on Thursday.
He was 56 and is survived by his wife, four daughters and relatives.
He hailed from Taktara village of Banargaon in Kokrajhar district and was two-time general secretary of Banargaon Anchalik Committee ABSU, besides he was also an adviser of the Anchalik Committee ABSU for several years.
Mushahary was one of the prominent social activists and student union leaders from Banargaon area during the Bodoland Movement under the leadership of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
He was associated with various social organisations, Banargaon primary Bodo Sahitya Sabha in his life.
Bodoland Territorial Region chief executive member Pramod Boro, Kokrajhar, East LAC MLA Lawrence Islary mourned over his death.
Boro said that the citizens in the greater Banargaon area have prayed for his eternal peace.
Several students’ union, social organisations including All Bodo Students Union, Banargaon primary Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Tribal Sangha have also extended deep condolence and deep mourning over his demise.
