JORHAT, May 23: A man sustained a grievous injury on the little finger of his left resulting in almost dismembering of the finger on Sunday after his hand fell on the part of the engine of a boat at Nimatighat which was heading to Majuli.
According to a source at Nimatighat, a boat with five family members of a person who died on Saturday night started their journey to the Brahmaputra island after Majuli-Jorhat boat services were opened on Sunday when due to a sudden jerk in vessel led to one person, namely Biswajyoti Das falling upon the section of the engine which injured his small finger.
Das was taken to JMCH and is undergoing treatment at the institute, the source added.
