GUWAHATI, July 14: The Assam government has signed an agreement with Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV) to establish a campus in the northeastern state. Initially, the Maharashtra-based central university will operate from a temporary campus in Guwahati, according to an official statement.
The MGAHV campus will focus on promoting and conducting research in Hindi and other Indian languages. During the signing ceremony, MGAHV Vice-Chancellor Rajnish Kumar Shukla announced the upcoming launch of a mass communication course in Assamese language on the Guwahati campus. Additionally, the MGAHV will take a leading role in utilising artificial intelligence for Assamese and other Indian languages.
Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu, state education department advisor Nani Gopal Mahanta, and other senior officials were present at the event.
The establishment of the MGAHV campus in Guwahati marks a significant development in promoting Hindi and Indian languages in Assam. This initiative is expected to contribute to the enrichment of linguistic and cultural diversity in the region while providing educational opportunities in the field of mass communication.
