DONGKAMUKAM, Jan 03: ‘Migrant Workers Day’ was observed at Satgaon Presbytery hall in West Karbi Anglong on Wednesday.
The day was marked with the theme ‘Your Work: Your Valuable Contribution.’
As the chief guest, the vice provincial of Guwahati province, Fr Joseph Teron, attended the program and urged the workers to maintain austerity and stay focused.
“The most important thing is to remember God wherever you work. Whether it’s a big or small duty, remember God first, then your family, and thirdly, focus on your roots. Saving money is another fundamental factor to keep in mind,” he emphasised.
Migrant workers from Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, etc., participated in the event, with over 443 individuals in attendance. Many workers migrate from North East India to big cities, and from Satgaon Parish alone, there are over 2600 migrant workers who are Catholic believers.
Later, a Holy Mass was held, followed by a fellowship meal.
The program was attended by Fr Albert Thyrniang, Fr Justin, Fr Charles Sangma, Sister Mary Hasda (Headteacher of Satgaon ME School), Nitendra Cheran, and others.
