JAGIROAD, Aug 23: Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, concluded her two-day visit to Morigaon district on Friday, during which she interacted with beneficiaries, inspected facilities, and reviewed the implementation of various schemes.
During her visit, the minister inspected the Anganwadi Centre in Jaluguti, where she interacted with children, distributed gift hampers, and inspected the premises. She also visited the Assam Kayaking and Canoeing Coaching Centre, where she met medalists and sportspersons, inspected the canoes, and reviewed safety measures.
The minister also visited the Kumoi Kacharigaon Model AWC, where she interacted with children and officials, inspected the facilities, and reviewed the functioning of the centre. Additionally, she visited the Mobile Cancer Detection Unit, where she interacted with doctors and appreciated the initiative.
Moreover, the minister visited the Kumoi Kacharigaon M.E. School, where she interacted with students and took stock of the necessary arrangements. She also visited the PMAY house of Junmoni Konwar, receiving a briefing about the construction of the house and the challenges faced by the beneficiaries.
The minister further visited the Yangli Farmer Producer Company (FPC), where she interacted with women involved in vermicompost production and weaving, emphasising the importance of women’s empowerment. She inspected the vermicompost units, visited the display centre, and planted a neem sapling.
Additionally, the minister visited the handloom site, where she interacted with people showcasing traditional Assamese Mekhela-Sador. Lastly, she visited the Establishment of a Medium Re-circulatory Aquaculture System (RAS) under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), where she interacted with officials and provided valuable feedback.
The minister’s visit aimed to review progress, identify areas for improvement, and explore strategies for future development.
