Morigaon, Oct 13: The Morigaon District Administration, in collaboration with the Joint Director of Health Office, launched a massive polio immunisation campaign on Sunday, aiming to vaccinate 1,49,606 children below the age of five. The campaign began at the premises of the Joint Director of Health Office, marking the commencement of the Sub-National Immunisation Day across the district.
The programme was inaugurated by Additional District Commissioner (Health) Nitisha Bora in the presence of several senior officials, including Joint Director of Health Dr Arun Nath, Dr Loknath Deuri, State Observer-cum-Monitor Dr S.B. Bora, Additional CM & HO (FW), DPM of NHM Jufin Sultana, DFPC Baharul Ulum Chowdhary, Nabakrishna Bora, and Circle Officer Naba Medhi. The officials stressed the importance of eradicating polio through collective effort and community participation.

A total of 914 polio booths have been set up across Morigaon district, manned by 3,426 booth workers to ensure smooth execution of the drive. The health department has urged parents to bring their children to the nearest booth and ensure they receive the life-saving drops. The initiative is part of the government’s continued effort to keep Assam polio-free and strengthen child health immunity across the region.
