As the Yatra van reached the Police Reserve gate, locals began shouting against the MLA, coinciding with the presence of eight BJP ticket aspirants for Morigaon constituency waiting to welcome the Chief Minister. The aspirants reportedly distanced themselves from the sitting MLA.

Crowds had gathered spontaneously to see the Chief Minister, accompanied by State BJP president Dilip Saikia and Minister Piyush Hazarika. On noticing Ramakanta Deuri in the mobile van, people shouted slogans such as “Ramakanta Deuri go back, go back” and demanded change in the constituency.

Earlier, Deuri, along with party president, secretary and other workers had warmly welcomed the Chief Minister at Basanaghat. More than 10,000 bike riders greeted the Yatra at Jagiroad, and the rally proceeded via Morigaon to reach Barapujia.
