Morigaon, Nov 16: The central and state governments have taken steps to purchase shali paddy at the minimum support prices of the government with the aim of doubling farmers’ incomes. The Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (AFSC) has taken steps to purchase paddy at reasonable prices under the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation limit in collaboration with Morigaon District Administration and Agriculture Department.
After the opening of the paddy procurement center in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Kankan Jyoti Saikia, the process of paddy procurement was officially started. The Assistant Commissioner said that socio-economic development will only be done if the income of farmers increases only if the income of farmers is increased and the department should not tolerate middlemen and contact the department and sell paddy at a minimum support price of the government. Under the Kharif Weather 2025-26, the minimum support price of the government for paddy, ie Rs. 2369/- per quintal, additional assistance of Rs. 250/- of the Government of Assam. A total of Rs. 2619/- per quintal has already started procurement of paddy at the minimum support prices of the government at nine paddy procurement centers in the district.
With the aim of further adorn the paddy procurement process, the required certificates for sale of paddy to the farmers of all the agricultural development circles of the district are being issued through the concerned Agricultural Development Officer. Senior Agricultural Development Officer Musahid Farooki, Padum Bora, Rice Procure Center manager Anshuman Bora, Rajiv Uddin Ahmed, AFCSL Sajidul Islam, Media expert Gautam Kumar Nath and Agricultural Extension Assistant Abu Yusuf were present at the function.
