TEZPUR, Feb 21: ‘Udyam 2023’ — a MSME conclave — being organized by the government  in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ will go a long way in helping interested youths  to take up entrepreneurial activities and create employment opportunities as well as help strengthen the economy, said MP (Member of Parliament), Tezpur HPC, Pallab  Lochan Das while inaugurating the ‘Udyam 2023’ a MSME conclave organized by the Department of  Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, Government of Assam, at Church Field in Tezpur,  on Tuesday. The conclave will continue till February 24. Speaking on the occasion, MP Das stressed on the need for entrepreneurial avenues  and  thanked the Government for organizing the event.

It may be noted that with a view to further push the entrepreneurial activities in the state and address the various challenges being faced by the MSME sector, the ‘Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises’ has taken the initiative to organize ‘Udyam 2023’ — a MSME conclave covering each Parliamentary constituency of the state. As part of the five-day event, an exhibition-cum-sale of various products produced by around 100 MSMEs of Sonitpur, Biswanath and Gohpur, seminars, trainings and workshops on various topics such a bee-keeping and honey processing, GeM Portal, potential of agri-tourism in Sonitpur, marketing skills for rural micro enterprises, eri-rearing and related entrepreneurial activities,  and others are being organized.

Also present on the occasion were Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava, Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, MD of Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Chinmoy Prakash Phukan, Joint Director of Industries & Commerce, Tapan Deka, noted social worker Batash Orang.

Chinmoy Prakash Phukan MD, AIIDC, delivered the welcome address at the meeting which was also addressed by MLA Tezpur Prithiraj Rava and Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur  Deba Kumar Mishra. Joint Director, Industries and Commerce, Tapan Deka gave the vote of thanks.

On the occasion, two entrepreneurs, namely Deheswar Basumatary and Mintu Bora were handed over cheques worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 30 lakh respectively as loan from UCO Bank — the lead bank for Sonitpur district — for starting a piggery and a dairy farm respectively, stated a press release.
