GUWAHATI, Jan 24: The District Health Services, Dima Hasao, observed National Girl Child Day with a rally followed by an awareness programme, underscoring the importance of empowering the girl child and ensuring her rights, education and well-being.
The rally began from the office of the Additional Chief Medical & Health Officer (FW), Haflong and concluded at the Cultural Institute Hall, drawing participation from health officials and community members.
The awareness programme was graced by Probita Johori, EM, NCHAC, as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Dr Sarsing Rongpi, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr Marina Changsan, Additional C.M&H.O (FW), Rijit Kachari, SDIPRO, Maibang, along with other officials and participants.
Speakers at the programme highlighted the need to promote gender equality, education and health awareness, while stressing collective responsibility in building a safer and more inclusive society for girls. The observance served as a reminder of the district’s commitment to protecting and empowering the girl child through awareness and community participation.
